DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin

Ngayong 4 PM, Abril 12, 2021, ang Department of Health ay nakapagtala ng 11,378 na karagdagang kaso ng COVID-19. Samantala ay mayroon namang naitalang 267 na gumaling at 204 na pumanaw.

Sa kabuuang bilang ng mga naitalang kaso sa bansa, 18.0% (157,451) ang aktibong kaso, 80.3% (703,625) na ang gumaling, at 1.73% (15,149) ang namatay.

DOH, FDA: SERIOUS ADVERSE EVENT FROM CALOOCAN CITY NOT CAUSED BY COVID-19 VACCINE

On April 8, a social media post alleged that a 54-year-old male from Caloocan City experienced a serious adverse event after his vaccination with the COVID-19 vaccine. Upon receipt of the said report, the Department of Health (DOH) immediately alerted the Regional Adverse Events Following Immunization Committee (RAEFIC) to conduct a causality assessment to determine if the vaccine had indeed caused the reaction.

PH RECEIVES FIRST BATCH OF GOVERNMENT-PROCURED VACCINES

The Philippines on Monday received the first tranche of 1 million CoronaVac vaccine doses out of the total 25 million doses procured by the national government from vaccine manufacturer SINOVAC.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, National Task Force against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr. (NTF Vaccine Czar), and Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian received the vaccine doses at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.

The DOH, UP-PGC, and UP-NIH today report the detection of 170 B.1.1.7 variant cases, 192 B.1.351 variant cases, one (1) P.1 variant case, and 19 P.3 variant cases among two (2) batches of 25 samples sequenced on March 28, and 1,336 samples sequenced between March 28 to April 8.

With the increasing number of variant cases being detected, the DOH reiterates that strict and consistent adherence to the minimum public health standards and increased support for the National Vaccination Program will significantly mitigate transmission of COVID-19.

Department of Health Statements

With the spike of of COVID-19 cases in the country, Dr. Eva Maria Cutiongco-De La Paz stressed that strict implementation of the Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat and Reintegrate (PDITR) Strategy of Local Government Units together with continuous adherence to the Minimum Health Protocols of the public can cut down COVID-19 transmission.

Dr. Eva Maria Cutiongco-De La Paz of the UP – National Institutes of Health underscored the importance of immediate isolation and public’s cooperation through MPHS to impede further transmission of COVID-19 in the country.

The Department of Health assures that the National Government will continue to work to ensure availability of COVID-19 vaccines for all Filipinos, regardless whether the vaccines are procured by the National Government or the private sector.

While the number of COVID-19 cases in the country continues to rise, World Health Organization (WHO) Philippine Representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe emphasizes that the Philippines is not the only country experiencing this. Dr. Abeyasignhe also adds that even developed countries like the USA and France deal with an increase in COVID-19 cases as well.

Dr. Beverly Ho of the DOH Health Promotion Bureau underscores importance of knowing the right information on COVID-19 vaccines, adding that all vaccines with FDA approval is proven to be safe and effective against the virus.
